Superrare Gallery's unique selling point is their strict adherence to Single Edition Mints which is a good fit for the kind of 'Rare Digital Art' that I prefer to create, leaning more into quality & detail over quantity & disposability. This was the second large digital gallery that I was accepted onto in 2020, they were the first platform to allow the minting of 3D format files which I immediately took advantage of and minted some of my 3D work as well as more of my VR Art Videos. Superrare has since become a D.A.O. which enables all members to vote on how the platform is run, it's a strong community comprising of many talented artists and discerning art collectors.
I've always had a slight obsession with movie monsters particularly 'Kaiju' of Japan and wanted to create one of my own here, something otherworldly but hailing from the deep ocean. Tiltbrush was an ideal place to create this piece due to its fantastic selection of effects brushes and I crafted an eerie soundtrack from a selection of free and licensed samples.
A scene from a story about birds that I wrote as a boy, which has evolved somewhat over time, now with a slightly Furry or Feathery twist inspired by the amusing rise of the Furry / Otherkin subculture.
This scene was originally illustrated in monotone pen & ink (below) so I wanted to experiment with that aesthetic when hand painting this scene in VR.
